David Zaretti

David Zaretti is a visual effects supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic in London, where he has worked since September 2020. He is a VFX artist with experience across major international VFX houses in the United Kingdom, Germany, and the Netherlands.

He began his professional career at Amsterdam Video Postproduction (AVP), where he worked from 2003 to 2010, initially as a VTR operator, then transitioning to a visual effects artist role. This technical foundation supported his later move into digital compositing and leadership positions within the VFX industry. Zaretti holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Manchester, completed in 1998, before pivoting to a career in visual effects.

Before joining ILM, Zaretti spent more than five years at Double Negative (now DNEG) in London, progressing from digital compositor to visual effects supervisor between 2015 and 2020. His earlier compositing career included senior and lead roles at RiseFX, Pixomondo, Black Mountain, Minivegas, Infected, Automatic, and Storz & Escherich, where he worked on both European and Hollywood-backed projects.

Zaretti's credited feature film work as a senior compositor includes Cloud Atlas (2012) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013). He also served as a freelance lead compositor on The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015) while working in Berlin.
